Member of the Association of Stained Glass Lamp Artists
The ASGLA
I am a member of the Association of Stained Glass Lamp Artists, which is dedicated to preserving, enhancing, and promoting the art and craft of stained glass lamp construction. This association was founded by Carol Conti, a teacher of stained glass craft who discovered that her students were interested in being creative through this medium. She focused on their knowledge and desire and found that when like-minded people join, their creative intuitions result in masterpieces. Therefore, Carol established an association to share and support people in the stained glass community.
The Association of Stained Glass Lamp Artists was formed with the advice and support of many individuals, who held their first meeting in 1991. At the time, 30 lamp artists from Washington attended the meeting, and this number has grown ever since, locally and worldwide. For instance, in 2013, the membership included over 800 artists from 27 countries and 48 states. Carol Conti passed away at home early Sunday morning, March 3rd, 2013 after a short illness. Her son John has endeavored to keep his mother’s dream alive which has resulted in the overwhelming success of the association.
